Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about finding a verified service provider, or listing your own business, on Allsorts Directory.
Finding a service provider
How do I find a verified plumber, electrician, or builder near me in South Africa?
Search Allsorts Directory by category and location — for example, /plumbers/east-london. Every listed business shown has passed a human-reviewed verification process before going live, and you can filter by category, see booking-locked reviews, and message providers directly via WhatsApp.
Browse categories →Is it free to search Allsorts Directory?
Yes, searching and contacting a provider is completely free for consumers. There's no signup fee, no subscription, and no charge to send a callout request or book an appointment.
Can I trust the reviews on Allsorts Directory?
Reviews are booking-locked — only a consumer who completed a real booking with that provider through the platform can leave one. This prevents the fake or purchased reviews common on some open review platforms.
Business verification & trust
How does Allsorts Directory verify businesses?
Every provider must supply a real street address at signup (never shown publicly — kept for internal verification and traceability only), then goes through a free web-presence check (does the business have a real, findable website or web footprint) and an AI-generated risk read, both reviewed by a human admin before the listing ever goes live. Nothing is auto-approved.
Why does Allsorts Directory require a real street address if it's not shown publicly?
South Africa has a real, documented risk of business impersonation and fraud. A verifiable street address gives our verification team something concrete to check, and — together with the signup IP address — gives us a traceable record we can hand to law enforcement if a listing is ever reported as fraudulent.
What happens to my data if I report a fraudulent listing?
Our backend admin team maintains full contact, address, and signup-IP records for every provider, specifically for this purpose. We disclose these records only in response to a valid legal request, such as a police investigation into a fraudulent or impersonated listing.
Listing your business
Is it free to list my business on Allsorts Directory?
Yes. Listing is completely free. You only pay if you choose to upgrade to a Featured placement, which shows your business first in your category and location.
List your business →Can customers book a real appointment with me, or only send a request?
Both are supported. If you connect your real Allsorts Bookings account in your provider settings, customers see your live availability and book a real time slot directly. Without that connection, customers can still send you a callout request describing what they need.
See Allsorts Bookings →Can I connect my Allsorts CRM account to Allsorts Directory?
Yes. Sole proprietors and small businesses can connect their Allsorts CRM API key in provider settings, so every new callout request or booking automatically becomes a Contact in their CRM — no manual re-entry.
Can I embed a booking widget on my own website or social media?
Yes. Once your Allsorts Bookings account is connected, your provider settings page gives you a copy-paste <iframe> embed snippet for a chrome-free booking widget you can place on your own website, Linktree, or social bio link.
What if I don't have a website yet?
That's fine — a website is optional at signup. We'll still run a free web-presence check for you, and adding one later just makes future verification faster.

Is Allsorts Directory POPIA compliant?
